“Aditya Hridayam Punyam Sarva Shatru Vinashanam”
“Loosely translated, it means, ‘for the being who keeps the sun in the heart, all evil vanishes from life.’ That is, when you remember the Atman, the Buddha, the place in your heart, the being, the inner guru, the light that comes from your own heart, then you no longer live with that which takes people from God, because all you see is God and that which brings you to it. When you do this mantra sometimes, you sit in front of the sun, and you let the sun come into your heart until the warmth in your heart becomes like a thousand suns and the light pours out from you.” – Ram Dass
Please join me for a 15 minute heart healing meditation to help heal our hearts and cultivate compassion. Start by finding a comfortable seat, with your spine upright and erect. Close your eyes, and select any hand gestures of choice. I now invite you to open up your heart as you begin to recite this mantra to yourself, allowing the power of its vibration to lead you into a greater meditative state. Remember that each mantra has its own particular vibration and healing components. Some mantras will connect with you in greater ways than others. So, simply see how this mantra resonantes with you (or not). Japa mantra meditation is another meditative technique to encourage us to sit, quiet the mind, and tend to the heart as we open ourselves up to the receptors of life.
